Janice's Story

Janice Sarich is a UCP Nomination Contestant with professional experience and significant expertise. Her accomplishments are a result of years of public service and private sector success.

Janice is a proud Albertan born and raised in Edmonton. She is a fourth generation Ukrainian-Canadian, who grew up in a hard working family with parents who instilled the importance of integrity, community, family, faith, and education.

She owns a small business-consulting firm, and is an up-and-coming author.

Janice is the first woman elected as the Ward 2-Catholic School Board Trustee in 2001, and served until 2007.

In 2008, Janice was overwhelmingly elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Edmonton-Decore. Re-elected in 2012. Appointed to Cabinet as Parlimentary Assistant to the Minister of Education.

Janice’s record of service demonstrates that she takes time to understand the issues, asks tough questions, and challenges special interests before taking a clear stand.

She established a reputation for delivering real results for people. Janice solved an astounding 4,000 individual case files from 2008-2015.

Janice understands that the definition of family is evolving, and policy decisions made impact individuals, families, and communities.

Janice holds Master of Education and Bachelor of Physical Education degrees from the University of Alberta. She also has Project Management and Project Leadership Certificates from NAIT - Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Additionally, she holds Governance Essentials, and Boardroom Financial Essentials from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD)-Rotman.

Janice and her husband Steve, a Croatian-Canadian are celebrating 32 years of marriage this year.

The Edmonton-Decore community has proudly been home to her family for 20 years.
